What do these metrics mean?

Most noticeable metrics

VLT%: how dark your tint is and how much visible light comes through. Lower %= darker inside car.

IRER%: how much solar energy (heat) the film can absorb. Higher %=less heat inside of your car.

  • Transmittance (%) - Solar Energy Transmittance
How much solar energy (light + heat) gets through. Lower = better heat rejection.

Reflectance (%) - Solar Energy Reflectance
How much solar energy is reflected? Higher = more heat bounced off.

Absorbance (%) - Solar Energy Absorbance
How much solar energy is absorbed by the film. (This energy could heat up the glass but not go inside.)

IRER (% IR Rejection) - Infrared Energy Rejection (780–2500nm)
How well it blocks infrared (heat-carrying) rays. Higher % = better at reducing heat.

IR Rejection (1025nm) - IR rejection at a specific wavelength
A snapshot of how well the film blocks infrared heat at 1025nm. Higher is better.

  • Transmittance VLT (%) - Visible Light Transmittance
How much visible light passes through the film. Lower % = darker tint.

Reflectance VLR (%) - Visible Light Reflectance
How much visible light bounces off the film. Higher = more reflective or shiny.

TSER (%) - Total Solar Energy Rejected
How much total heat from the sun is blocked (includes light + infrared). Higher = cooler interior.

  • UV Rejection (%) - Ultraviolet Rejection
Blocks UV rays that cause skin damage and interior fading. 99% = excellent protection.

    Glare Reduction (%)
Reduces brightness from sunlight or headlights. Higher = less glare.

    Shading Coefficient
A number that shows how much solar heat enters through the film compared to clear glass. Lower = cooler.
Thickness (Mil): How thick the film is. Standard is 1.5 mil, thicker films (like 2 mil) might offer more durability or protection.
